KVIB holds awareness camp for unemployed youth

Jammu: Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) Thursday organized an awareness camp under National Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Hub (NSSH) scheme here at Bishnah.

The day long camp was organized with an aim to encourage unemployed youth of SC/ST community to take maximum benefits of the schemes being implemented by KVIB and urged them to set up micro units and become entrepreneurs. Experts from KVIB, concerned departments and banks gave a brief view of benefits under NS

Giving details about the scheme, General Manager, DIC, Ashwani Khajuria said National SC/ST Hub (NSSH) is an initiative to develop a supportive ecosystem to focus on the growth of SC-ST Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

He asked the board to organize more workshops, awareness programs, skill development programs and other mass mobilization programs for the effective implementation of this scheme across the state.

Deputy CEO, KVIB, Pawan Kumar Gupta and Assistant Director, Employment, Priti Sharma also briefed about several schemes including NSSH, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and exhorted upon the unemployed youth of SC-ST community to become job providers. They asked the community members to come forward and avail the benefits of various employment schemes for their economic upliftment.

District Officer J&K KVIB Nishant Deol informed that the Government of India has formulated Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs in 2012, which states that 20 percent of total procurement of goods and services by Central Government, departments, and public-sector undertakings shall be made from MSMEs and four percent of such procurement shall be made from MSME owned by SC-ST entrepreneurs.

Others present on the occasion were District Coordinator, PNB, Sat Sharma, Lead Dist. Manager, Bhupinder Singh, Cluster Head, JKB, T P Singh and other officials from line departments and Banks. Besides, a large number of people belonging to SC /ST community attended the camp. The proceeding was conducted by Senior Supervisor, KVIB, Deedar Singh.
