Sopore: Panic gripped in North Kashmir’s Sopore town after militants fired upon a police party Bypass crossing on Thursday afternoon.
A police official said that two armed youth on bike opened fire on police party, however, there was no loss of life or injury. He said the attack was sudden and after firing upon the police party, the bike borne militants fled from the spot.
Sopore has been virtually peaceful from past one or two years.
The official added that the attack was carried on the policemen deployed in the town in view of National Conference Patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah’s visit.
Shortly after the attack, Government Forces launched a search operation to nab the attackers; however, no arrests were made during the operation.
