Srinagar: Breaking the silence over the fall of the Mehbooba led PDP-BJP coalition government for the first time PDP’s founder leader and member parliament Muzaffar Hussain Baigh on Tuesday appealed all party legislators to unite and exuded confidence that PDP can return to power any time.
Local news gathering agency KNS quoted Muzaffar Baigh as saying “I was the president of the party and hold the honor to script the constitution and lay the foundation of this party and as such no other person can be more concerned than me about the survival of the party. I appeal all legislators to bury the hatchet and not to pay heed to rumours spread to create chaos among legislators.”
Saying that he is shocked to see party MLAs in a helpless situation, Baigh said “unfortunately some people have taken decisions without consulting me and as such party MLAs should show courage, unite and work for the causes they were elected by the people of their constituencies.”
Baigh refuted rumors spread by some mischievous elements that he was advised by the Prime Minister to support to any candidate for the position of chief ministership.
Talking about one on one meetings of some MLAs with party president Mehbooba Mufti, Baigh said “I have heard that Mehbooba ji has assured MLAs that she would act against the leaders who hurt the sentiments of the MLAs. I also suggest that Mehbooba ji should act against all those whose actions have led to present chaos in the party.”
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the performance of the Mehbooba led government, Baigh said “the government was not working well and I too spoke over the non performance of the government many a times in party meetings and forums. Legislators should unite and work to restore the image of the party damaged by the poor showing of the government during last two three years as there are three more years to go for the legislators to regain the lost ground in their constituencies.”
When asked about his silence on the fall of PDP-BJP coalition government, Baigh said “I don’t react in haste. I always react after serious thinking over the issues and the situations.”
