Chenab HPP workers union delegation meets DC

Kishtwar: A delegation of Chenab Hydro Power Project Workers Union Tuesday met Deputy Commissioner  Angrez Singh Rana and projected their demands.

The delegation comprising of around 300 workers led by union president Abdul Subhan  hold detailed discussion with the DC in presence of  ADDC  Imam Din, ACR Inderjeet Singh Parihar, DySP Nihar Ranjan, ALC   Muneeb Umar and General Manager AFCONS   Manmeet Singh.

The DC asked the Union to present their burning issues to the AFCONS enabling it to take cogent action in the light of their genuine demands.

The Union representatives sought    transparency in recruitment process, preference and relaxation in qualification to local unemployed skilled youth in recruitment.   They further demanded all legal monetary as well as risk insurance benefits to the workers including those working at hazardous places i.e TBM etc.

They further sought preference to workers retrenched after completion of Dul Hasti Power Project  given preference.

The DC asked the executing agency   to   look into the issues raised by the   Union members in an amicable way and concede their genuine demands on priority and in accordance with the provisions of labour laws.

The General Manager AFCONS assured the DC that the company will give due consideration   to the genuine issues raised by the members of the Union.

The Deputy Commissioner asked Assistant Labour Commissioner to ensure that workers may get all monetary benefits in accordance with the labour laws.

Meanwhile, the workers assured full support and favourable environment for early completion of Pakal Dul Power Project.
