Comr Secy PWD reviews department’s functioning

JammuCommissioner Secretary, Public works (R&B) Department; Khurshid Ahmad Shah chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the department here Saturday.

The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner Works, Satish Razdan, Chief Engineer R&B Sudhir Shah besides senior functionaries of the concerned departments.

During the meeting, the Commissioner Secretary took a detailed assessment of the physical and financial progress on various projects taken under NABARD, Central Road Fund (CRF) and State Sector Schemes in Jammu region.

The meeting was informed that a total of 3295.86 kms has been blacktopped under Cities and Town plan in Jammu province and 151 projects were sanctioned under CRF out of which 44 projects has been completed. It was further informed that a total of 30 works has been completed out of 208 approved works under NABARD –RIDF.

The Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned functionaries to strictly adhere to the specifications and complete the ongoing projects within stipulated time frame.

While taking a detailed review of yearly progress and completion of schemes, the Commissioner Secretary sought the minutiae for the pending schemes and position of newly taken up projects. He asked the officials to review the pending development projects to complete these at the earliest.

The Commissioner Secretary further directed for the submission of detailed report on the delays in pending works. “Irregularities will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the erring official”, he maintained.

The Commissioner Secretary emphasized on re-examining the rationalization of delegation of powers by the administrative department for smooth functioning of the department. He also took stock of Division wise achievements made under separate heads and directed for de-sanctioning of the projects that were already shifted to PMGSY.

Earlier, the Commissioner Secretary inspected various ongoing mega projects being executed by Public Works Department including 200 Bedded Maternity Hospital at Gandhi Nagar, IIT and IIM at Nagrota, Suchetgarh road and Revenue Complex/ Mini Secretariat at RS Pura.
