105 mass marriages organised in Srinagar

Srinagar: As many as 105 mass marriages were today solemnized in Srinagar on Sunday.
Organised by Jaffri Council in Srinagar, 105 girls tied their knot with as many youths from different parts of the valley.
An organisor said the girls and youths are mostly orphans or from poor families who cannot afford individual marriages.
We are providing them six suits besides some other utensils to start a new life, he said adding we appeal to well off people to come forward and help these girls and youths.
Due to turmoil during the past three decades the financial position of people has worsened with the result marriages of girls were getting delayed. This should be a cause of concern for everyone in the society, he said adding similar mass marriages will be held in future also.
