Srinagar: Former military secretary, Indian Army, Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain has been appointed as the chancellor of Central University of Kashmir.
According to a notification issued by the registrar of the varsity, Lt Gen Hasnain has been appointed as the chancellor for five-year term.
As a Brigadier, Hasnain served in Jammu and Kashmir as Commander, 12 Infantry Brigade, on the Line of Control, near the town of Uri. He later commanded 19 Infantry Division in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, as a Major General, serving under the overall direction of 15 Corps.
In October, 2010, he returned to XV Corps in Kashmir, as the GOC.
