Advisor (K) reviews functioning of estates deptt

Srinagar: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar Thursday reviewed the functioning of the Estates Department and the facilities being extended to the employees in the estates colonies in Jammu and Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Planning and Monitoring Department and Estates, Rohit Kansal, Director Estates, Tasaduq Jeelani and other senior officers of the Department.

The Advisor stressed on the department to come up with proposal to construct more accommodation for the employees besides providing better living facilities to them in the existing estates colonies and providing them recreational facilities.

The meeting was informed that the department owns 4522 dwelling units in the state which include 117 Ministerial Bungalows. It was informed that the department hired 42 JKTDC huts, 252 JKTDC rooms, 106 private hotels, 107 private houses and 2858 hotel rooms during May 2018 to October 2018 while in Jammu the department hired 132 JKTDC rooms, 1277 private hotels and 273 private houses.

While reviewing the ongoing projects, the advisor was informed that the department is constructing 400 flats at Pampore at an estimated cost of Rs 90.65 crore comprising of 192-1BHK, 128-2BHK and 80-3BHK.

It was given out in the meeting that the department has also completed construction of 32 residential flats at Sarwal Phase-I while construction of 28 flats in Phase-II is going on at an estimated cost of Rs 8.22 crore and is likely to be completed by April 2019. The construction of 28 flats at Ahata Amar Singh at the cost of Rs 8.42 crore is likely to be completed by May next year while the construction of 28 flats at Lower Muthi at the cost of Rs 3.33 crore is likely to be completed within 15 months.

Meeting was further informed that the department has also acquired 92 kanals of state land at Alochi Bagh for construction of residential accommodation and DPR for the same is under formulation while DPR for the construction of 1024 flats at an estimated cost of Rs 372.04 crore at Shivpora, Srinagar for Employees under PM’s Package is also being formulated.

The meeting was further informed that the department also plans to construct additional office accommodation at civil secretariat Srinagar and Jammu at an estimated cost of Rs 52.33 crore and Rs 58.43 crore respectively and the memorandum in this regard will be placed before the State Administrative Council very soon.
