Kupwara/July, 12: One more militant was late Wednesday evening killed in the ongoing gunfight in Kandi forest of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and with the death toll in the continuing gunfight has risen to two. An army commando was killed and another injured in the gunfight Wednesday .
“The body of the slain militant was recovered today morning along with an AK- 47 rifle and other ammunition during the search operation in dense woods of Sadu Ganga in Kandi”, an army officer was reported to have said.
The identity of the slain militant and his group affiliation is being ascertained, he said, adding that the operation is still going on.
On Tuesday, an army commando of 3 PARA namely Sepoy Mukul Meena was killed while another soldier suffered injuries.
The operation, l the official said , was launched following a stand-off with the militants Tuesday afternoon.
He said that the militant group had managed to flee from the area, but the contact was established again on Wednesday.
