New Delhi: The P Chidambaram-led Congress Policy Planning Group on Jammu and Kashmir Monday met a cross-section of people to know their views on the socio-political scenario in the state’s Ladakh region, a party official said.
It met local delegations, including political and social groups, in Leh district, a spokesman of the Congress’s state unit said. “The Congress Policy Planning Group, after wrapping up its Kargil tour, visited Leh district today where they met a cross-section of people, including political and social groups, to know their views on the socio-political scenario obtaining in the Ladakh region,” he said.
The delegations briefed the group’s member, including Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and state Congress chief G A Mir, about the social and political developments in the district, the spokesman said.
“Many important issues of public importance also came up for discussion, the deputations also discussed various issues with the group, particularly those pertaining to the overall development of the region and the people as well,” he said.
The former Home minister led group also held a detailed discussion with regard issues of people at grassroots, the spokesman said.
He said the delegations that met members of the group included Anjuman Islam Leh, Ladakh Buddhist Association, Anjuman Imamia Leh, All Ladakh Gonpa Association, Christian community, Ex-serviceman League, War Widows, Gallantry Awardees, Merchants Association and Ladakh Students Union.
