Srinagar: Unidentified Militants kidnapped and later killed a constable of Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday night in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said on Friday.
They said a group of two to three militants kidnapped a 27-year-old policeman Javid Ahmad Dar near his house at village Vehil in Shopian at 2130 hrs last night.
Security forces were immediately rushed there and a massive hunt was launched to trace the abducted policeman, they said. However, his body was recovered this morning, they added.
No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility, they said.
This was the third abduction in Shopian during the past about a month.
A soldier in civic Aurangzeb was abducted and later killed by militants on June 14 at Kalampora, when he was going to Shopian in a private vehicle from his unit. His bullet riddled body was recovered from village Gusoo.
However, a policeman, who was working as munshi in Special Operation Group (SOG) camp at Pulwama was released unharmed after his abduction from his residence at village Navpora.
