Srinagar/July, 5: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that the dream of a developed and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir would be realised when there is peace and normalcy in the state.

Taking to  micro-blogging website Twitter soon after chairing a meeting in Srinagar with J&K Governor NN Vohra and top officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Government to review security and development in the state, Singh said he reviewed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and discussed the way forward at a meeting with the Governor and state administration in Srinagar.

“Development and good governance had remained elusive for the common people of Jammu and Kashmir. We are committed to take all possible measures that will bring accountability, transparency and good governance in the system,” Singh tweeted.

The minister who is on his last leg of two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir said with renewed focus on good governance and development the Centre is looking forward to kindle new aspirations and hopes amongst the people of the State.

“The solution to problems lies in empowerment of the people and strengthening the institutions of local self governance. The dream of a developed and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir will be realised when there is peace and normalcy in the state,” he said.

“It is our firm resolve to bring peace, stability and prosperity through an honest, effective and efficient administration for the problems facing the state,” he added.

He had met Governor N.N. Vohra on Wednesday at the Raj Bhawan after arriving here along with Ajit Doval, national security advisor and Rajiv Gauba, union home secretary.

This is Singh’s first visit to the state after the imposition of Governor’s rule on June 20.
