Srinagar: A three day training program of Emergency Room Trauma Course (ERTC) for doctors/paramedics organized by Directorate of Health Services. Kashmir (DHSK) with technical support from International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) concluded Thursday at Institute of Hotel Management Building,Rajbagh. The ICRC trainers and facilitators included Dr Khursheed Iqbal (Consultant, ERTC Trainer ICRC), Dr Iqbal Fateh Khan,Dr Manzoor Rather (Consulatant Anaesthesia,Master Trainer ERTC),Mr Manash Mohan (Health Field Officer, ICRC, J&K).Atotal of 25 participants took part in the training.
Director General Health Services, Dr Saleem ur Rehman said that the department is stressing to follow the continuum of care, starting from pre-hospital care to extensive care at the emergency room of different peripheral hospitals across Kashmir province so that there is better deliverance of care in stabilizing and managing emergency patients.It is pertinent to mention here that more than 600 doctors of DHSK have been already trained for ERTC till date and the department is continuing its efforts in training more and more doctors so that emergency patients are managed in much better way.The department due to continuous efforts in upgrading medical emergencies has established Emergency Rooms in all District & Sub District Hospitals and recently at one PHC also for timely intervention in handling,managing medical emergency patients.
Dr Ajnum Soni (Deputy Medical Coordinator, ICRC) in his vote of thanks appreciated the dedicated approach of Directorate of Health services, Kashmir in organising such trainining programmes for better patient care.
