Experiment of rumors and Horse Trading In Kashmir

After misusing public mandate for pelf and power the PDP legislators including some former ministers are playing dirty tricks to spread rumours about the formation of next Government in Jammu & Kashmir. Tending to carry out undemocratic means of horse trading for cobbling together support to engineer defections in PDP the handful of PDP’s opportunistic leaders are further discrediting themselves in the eyes of the people . Till yesterday these handful of opportunists PDP legislators were not daring to utter a single word even against a single decision of the Mehbooba government and in fact some of them as ministers of the Mehbooba government were responsible for implementing decisions against both the public sentiment and as well as the standing rules of the state government. Imran Raza Ansari who now dubs Mehbooba Mufti as incompetent Chief Minister while taking pride in announcing the Rehbar-e-Khel scheme could not implement the scheme despite holding the portfolio for three long years and he as sports minister did not allow the release of the select list of grounds men for district Srinagar for two long years.

Rumours may be dismissed as a mere figment of imagination of a handful of dissident PDP legislators right now but the intents of the Modi government to script yet another black chapter in the political history of Jammu & Kashmir can’t be ruled out.

Though no one can deny the fact that Mehbooba Mufti can’t be rated one amongst the competent chief ministers of Jammu & Kashmir but equally true it is that Imran Ansari can’t be rated one among the few competent ministers of the Mehbooba government. After allowing Mehbooba Mufti to forge an unholy alliance with BJP just for occupying ministerial positions the likes of Imran Ansari as cabinet ministers were part of some cabinet decisions which were taken in total disregard to the public sentiment in Kashmir and against the very spirit of special status enjoyed by Jammu & Kashmir under article 370 of Indian constitution. The likes of Imran Ansari did not dare to utter even a single word against the central government’s flat refusal to file an affidavit in defence of article 35 A and they now drop hints at the possibilities of cobbling together support of over a dozen PDP MLAs to stitch yet another unholy alliance with the BJP . Knowing that the PDP’s alliance with BJP has been outrightly rejected by the people by demonstration their anger violently on streets for last more than two year the political morality demands that Kashmir based legislators irrespective of their party affiliations put in their best to disallow yet another unholy alliance with BJP for formation of next government in the state.
Ironically the senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta while doping hints about the possibility of his party’s encouragement to PDP’s defectors has said “We are working on something and you will come to know of this soon” and Gupta’s these words to media within days of the BJP withdrawing from the PDP-BJP ruling alliance lend credence to the rumours being spread about government formation only to create an atmosphere for house trading under governor’s rule in the state . Rumours may be dismissed as a mere figment of imagination of a handful of dissident PDP legislators right now but the intents of the Modi government to script yet another black chapter in the political history of Jammu & Kashmir can’t be ruled out.
