Srinagar: Amid speculations about government formation between People’s Democratic Party and Congress, Nayeem Akhtar and Saifuddin Soz have said State needs immediate elections and not any government.
Former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz said that elections are the need of hour. “I think, if possible, Election Commission should conduct Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. If any government will be formed at this point of time, that will be formed only on some compromise and it will damage the whole democratic system,” Soz said.
He said instead of wasting time in government formation, political parties should demand new elections.
People’s Democratic Party leader Nayeem Akhtar also said that State needs new elections. “I can’t comment on the Congress Core Group meeting. It is the internal matter of Congress Party. People’s Democratic Party stands for new elections in the State,” Akhtar said.
