J&K Bank Chairman announces ambulance & bank branch at Baba Rishi

Srinagar: As a humble gesture towards providing the best of facilities to the devotees paying obeisance at the Shrine of revered Sufi Baba Payamuddin (popularly known as Baba Rishi), J&K Bank will donate an ambulance to the Shrine under our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. Besides, the bank shall be establishing a full-fledged business unit (branch) there in the coming months.

This was announced by the J&K Bank Chairman & CEO, Parvez Ahmed, while speaking at the inauguration of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) amid a large gathering of devotees, local residents and business community. Extending this state-of-the-art banking services will facilitate the increasing number of visitors at the revered shrine to have easy access to the cash.

The Chairman was accompanied by President Abdul Rashid Shegan, Zonal Head (North) Fayaz Ahmad Siddiqui, Vice Presidents and other senior officials of the bank including branch head (Tangmarg) Zaffar Iqbal. SDM Tangmarg Shabir Ahmed, members from the management of the Baba Reshi Shrine headed by the Imam, Peer Mohammad Akbar, representatives of local trade unions and officials of Police Department were also present on the occasion.

Notably, the management of the shrine felicitated the chairman (performed Dastar Bandi)  on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed highlighted the role of J&K Bank in providing banking services to the remotest of the areas in the J&K State. “J&K Bank operates on the principle of serving to empower the people of this state financially by providing them with best banking services and products tailored according to their needs and requirements. We shall continue to extend banking services to all the remote areas of the state within next few years.”

“The inauguration of ATM at this revered shrine of Baba Reshi (RA) is a step towards providing these services to the increasing number of devotees at this revered shrine. To augment our services here further for the benefit of the local population, we have decided to commission a full-fledged business unit here in coming months,” he added.

The newly inaugurated ATM and upcoming business unit shall benefit the catchment area comprising of 15 adjacent villages facilitating local traders besides thousands of devotees who visit the Shrine from across and outside the state.

On the occasion, the chairman stressed for promoting social harmony as envisaged by the Sufi Saints of the valley. “We should follow the footsteps of these Sufi Saints who taught us to live in harmony with nature and our fellow beings,” said Parvez Ahmed.

Earlier addressing the audience, Zonal Head North Fayaz Ahmed Siddiqui highlighted the role of the bank in catering to the banking needs of people by formulating customized products tailored as per the local needs in different regions of the state.

Concluding the event, Vice President Karanjit Singh presented the vote of thanks. Notably, the chairman on behalf of the gathering present on the occasion congratulated the sikh community on the eve of Guru Hargobind Ji’s birthday.
