Baramulla, Jun 29 : Based on specific inputs, in a joint operation with Forest Protection Force (FPF), seizure of one horse along with 41cfts (10 Nos) of illicit Deodar sleepers was done during an night Naka at Korgah Chakla of Dobgah Range in JV Forest Division, Baramulla during the intervening night today and carted down to JV Forest Division safely.
The illicit consignment was being escorted in a Maruti Car bearing Registration No JK12- 3932 by an alleged notorious timber smuggler of North Kashmir namely Nazir Ahmad Gojri alias Nazir Cobra S/o Mohd Sultan Gojri R/O Iqbal colony, Old Town, Baramulla. The Maruti car was also seized.
During the scuffle that ensued, smugglers led by Nazir Ahmad Gojri made an unsuccessful attempt to murder Range officer Doabgah namely Bilal Ahmad who reportedly got minor injuries and his private car was also damaged in the incident by Nazir Ahmad Gojri.
Smugglers escaped under cover of darkness. A case FIR is being lodged against smugglers in concerned police station and a manhunt launched to nab the culprits.
DFO JV has taken up the matter with SSP Baramulla for needful action. DD FPF has been directed to fully assist the DFO in the matter.
