Dir Info reviews functioning of Distt Information Centres in Srinagar

Srinagar:  Director Information and Public Relations, Tariq Ahmad Zargar reviewed the functioning of the District Information Centres of the Kashmir division at a meeting convened at the Media Complex here Wednesday.

Joint Director Information (Headquarters) SaajidYehaya Naqash, Joint Director Information Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Dy Director Information (AV), Rakesh Dubey, District Information Officers, I/C Field Publicity Officer Kashmir and other concerned were present at the meeting.

The Director Information took a detailed brief from the DIOs regarding functioning, the infrastructure and human resource requirements in the concerned offices.

Stressing on ensuring punctuality in the District Information Centres, the Director Information asked all the DIOs to send the attendance report of their staff to the office of the Joint Director Information Kashmir by 10.30 am every day. He said Biometric System should be installed at all such District Information Centres, immediately, where it has not been installed yet.

He also stressed the need for maintaining close coordination with the concerned Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the developmental and welfare initiatives of the Government reach the public effectively.

The meeting was informed that the posts of District Information Officers at Reasi, Shopian, Anantnag, Kishtwar, Ramban, Udhampur, Kulgam, Kathua, Poonch, Samba, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kargil and Leh and Cultural Officer Kashmir and Field Publicity Officer Kashmir are lying vacant and need to be filled immediately to ensure smooth functioning of these District Information Centres.

The Director Information gave a series of directions on how to further improve the functioning of the District Information Centres to act as an effective counter-face between the Government and the people.

He said the DICs would be further strengthened by way of manpower and infrastructure and the issue of vacant posts of DIOs would be taken up with the Administrative Department.
