Srinagar: Reiterating that not handing over the Rasana rape and murder case to CBI and getting the pro rapist ministers removed was her duty to provide a sense of security to people, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti asked what will BJP do to Lal Singh for openly threatening media.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter Mehbooba, who heads coalition government for three years with BJP in the state said “ Not handing over the Rasana rape & murder case to CBI, getting the pro rapist ministers removed & also issuing orders not to harass the Gujjar & Bakarwal community in the guise of anti encroachment drives were my duties as CM to provide a sense of security to both communities”.
She further tweeted “ After expressing concern about freedom of expression in J&K following Shujaat’s murder, their MLA, notorious & even punished for his role in the aftermath of the unfortunate Kathua case still threatens journalists belonging to the valley, so what are they going to do about him?”.
Choudhary Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga, who joined the Hindu Ekta Manch protest in favour of accused arrested in Rasana rape and murder case of a eight year-old girl, were sacked from the ministry.
Choudhary Singh allegedly threatened Kashmir based journalist that they should draw a line on the journalism they do. Do they have to face something like what happened to Basharat [referring to Shujaat Bukhari], so that such a situation emerges. So mend your ways and draw a line, so that this brotherhood remains intact and there is progress,” he hadsaid in an interview on Friday at Jammu. Senior journalist and Editor in Chief Shujaat was killed alongwith the heart is two SPOs on June 15 in the heart of the city.
