Zulfkar for strengthening elementary education in JK

Samba: To provide academic and resource support at the grassroot level for the successful implementation of various strategies and programmes being undertaken in the areas of elementary education, the Minister for Education, Hajj & Auqaf and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that government is committed to provide quality education to the students studying in various educational institutions across the state.
The Minister said this while addressing a gathering in presence of MLA Vijaypur Chander Parkash Ganga after inaugurating newly constructed District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) building here at Tarore today.
Highlighting various works initiated under education sector in the state, the Minister said the institute constructed at the cost of Rs 5.63 crore has been established to cater to the needs of elementary teachers of the district for improving the quality of elementary education and emphasized that it will bring significant change in overall education scenario in the area.
Zulfkar greeted the students, staff and officers of the department for getting new infrastructure. He said that DIET also has a pace-setting role to play, adding that, this DIET should act as a role model for other educational institutions in the region in terms of meticulous, efficient and effective planning, besides execution of functions, harmonious and creative organizational climate, maintenance of clean and attractive campus etc.
The Minister said that the government intends to strengthen DIETs and SIE by extending required expertise and upgrading of infrastructure. For this, the department would organize national and international level seminars, training sessions at regular intervals to build consensus among academicians, researchers as well as practitioners about the best practices that can be employed to reform education scenario in government schools, he added.
The Minister said the department would also conduct subject specific refresher/orientation courses for the teachers to keep them abreast with the latest teaching styles in the fast-changing world. He said that many new concepts/researches have come up in the teaching field which a present-day teacher should be aware of, therefore, refresher courses become important.
The Minister advised the teachers to give their best and asked them to imbibe dynamism in their work culture and take the challenge of transforming the life of the children. “Own the children you teach, be innovative and work with self-motivated approach, only then you can cater to the requirements of the society,” he pointed.
Meanwhile, Chander Prakash Ganga, in his address, described teachers as nation builders, asking them to supplement the efforts of the government to universalize education and attain the tangible goals.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba Tilak Raj Sharma, Personnel Officer Education Department Rajiv Khajuria, Chief Education Officer Samba, Ram Pal, Executive Engineer PWD(R&B), Principal DIET, teacher students and a large number of people were present on the occasion. (KNS)
