Anantnag: After a month long ceasefire, Government Forces Monday launched a Cordon and Search operation in Wagham village of Bijbehara town in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The cordon was lifted after two and a half hours and during which random searches were conducted.
Official sources said that search operation was launched by 3 Rashtirya Rifles of Indian army and SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police after getting inputs about the presence of militants in the village.
No contact with militants was established after which cordon was lifted. Local sources said that village was brought under siege to remove militant banners, posters and clear pro-freedom graffities. (CNS)
