Srinagar: Eid ul Fitr was celebrated across the sub continent including Kashmir with great religious fervour and gaiety. Largest Eid gathering was held at Eidgah in Srinagar where APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressed Eid gathering at Eidgah after a gap of eight years as he wasn’t allowed by the authorities in the past.
During his address, Mirwaiz urged people to remember hundreds of martyrs who sacrificed for a great cause and stressed on safeguarding the mission of martyrs and to remain steadfast. Mirwaiz also paid rich tributes to hundreds of Kashmiri brave hearts who are languishing in various jails in and outside the state stating that these prisoners deserve our utmost appreciation for their courage and patience
Mirwaiz said while as people across the sub continent are celebrating Eid, Kashmir’s pro freedom leadership wants to convey to New Delhi that it must stop the policy of repression, that includes killings, harassment, torture, use of pellets and bullets in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz said Kashmir is a political and humanitarian issue and dealing with this issue with the military might can’t yield any result neither can it force the people of Kashmir or the leadership into a submission.
He said it is must to revoke all black laws and to release the prisoners so that a conducive atmosphere is created on ground for the resolution of vexed dispute where in all three parties, India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir are involved in a process of engagement.
Mirwaiz said he is conveying the message of peace and prosperity to both Delhi and Islamabad on this Eid as people of Kashmir urge them to take concrete steps towards the resolution of Kashmir dispute.
Amid pro freedom and pro martyrs slogans, Mirwaiz said the peaceful struggle against the forcible control will continue on all fronts. (KNS)
