Civilian killed in Anantnag, scores injured

Srinagar: A civilian was killed during the clashes that erupted between youth and forces in Ashajipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The civilian was identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Naikoo of Brakpora Anantnag.
The hospital authorities confirmed that a youth was hit by pellets in his neck and throat and was brought dead on arrival.
However, police refuted the killing of a youth during clashes, saying that “as reported by certain sections of media that one person died in clashes with security forces at Anantnag is refuted.”
“Preliminary investigation reveals that a Hand Grenade exploded resulting in the death of one Sheraz Ahmad, son of Gh Mohiuddin, resident of Brakpora due to splinter injuries and his right hand got fully damaged .Further details are being ascertained,” they said.
Sources said that scores of youth including some cops also sustained injuries during the clashes.

Gulab, son of M. Shafi JKP (Stone Injury Face), Haroon Ah JKP (stone Injury face), Irshad Ah JKP (Stone injury), Shahidul Islam (civil), son of Gh Hassan (Pellet Injury left eye referred to SMHS).
