Srinagar: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate the assassination of senior journalist and Editor in Chief of a local English daily Shujahat Bukhari by unidentified gunmen in Srinagar on Thursday evening.
An official spokesman said the SIT headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Central Kashmir Range (CKR) will investigate the murder of Bukhari.
Bukhari, 49, and his two Special Police Officers (SPOs) were killed when gunmen fired at them at Press Enclave, Partap Park, near here shortely before “Iftar” breaking of fast last evening.
The killing of Bukhari evoked wide condemnation in the state, country and abroad. Cutting across party lines the mainstream and separatist organizations have also strongly condemned the murder of Bukhari.
Meanwhile, police has released photograph of four suspected persons, including one clearly visible in the picture, seeking help from the general public to nab them.
