Police arrest one of the four suspects, recover stolen pistol, IGP

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested one of the four suspected involved in the assassination of senior journalist and Editor in Chief Shujahat Bukhari, a senior police officer said.
Bukhari and his two Special Police Officers (SPOs) were killed when unidentified gunmen showered bullets on them at Press Enclave Partap Park near here on Thursday evening.
Addressing a press conference here this evening Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir S P Pani said based on the video recording three motorcycle bone were seen fleeing the area.
However, later it surfaced that fourth person who was standing near the incident site was seen taken the pistol of one of the SPO.
We have arrested the person who was seen taking the pistol, Mr Pani said adding the cloths he was wearing at the time of crime were also recovered. We have also recovered pistol of the SPO, he said.
However, he refused to give the details of arrested person saying it will affect the investigation.
He said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate this terror act.
