Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated today in J&K, Gov, CM greet people

Srinagar: The Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the culmination of holy fasting month of Ramadhan, will be celebrated on Saturday in the Jammu and Kashmir.
However, Eid was on Friday celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety by Shia sect of Muslims in Ladakh region and some parts of Kashmir valley.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti have greeted people on the occasion.
The Eid festival will be celebrated tomorrow on the first day of Shawal-Mukaram month of Islamic calendar in the state as today is the 30th day of holy Ramadhan.
The Government has announced Eid holiday tomorrow in the state. Earlier June 15 was declared holiday by the government.
The traffic department has announced traffic arrangements for devotees going to Hazartbal shrine, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad, where the main congregation will be held tomorrow. Similar arrangements were also made for Eidgah and other religious places, where Eid prayers would be offered.
In a message of felicitations, the Governor expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of peace, progress, prosperity and happiness and would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity, which are the hallmarks of J&K’s glorious pluralistic traditions.
Governor prayed for the progress and well-being of the people of the State.
In her message, the Chief Minister prayed the month long fasting and the night long supplications of the faithful are accepted and rewarded by the Almighty. She hoped the spirit of generosity, discipline and piety generated through the Holy month is carried hereafter by people in day to day life as well. She also hoped this Eid brings along everlasting peace, happiness and prosperity to the people of the State.
The Chief Minister appealed to people not to forget the disadvantageous sections of society particularly orphans, widows, destitute and all those who suffered during the turmoil of past three decades during the festivities of Eid and play their positive role in bringing them back to the mainstream of society.
On the occasion, Mehbooba Mufti also prayed for communal harmony, brotherhood and upholding human values in the State
