Srinagar: Unidentified persons on Thursday evening attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man and decamped with his service rifle in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
Official sources said that two persons, who were riding a motorcycle, attacked a CRPF jawan in broad daylight with a stone near Sadura Railway Station at Qazigund in south Kashmir. “The attackers then decamped with the service rifle of the jawan,” they said, adding the CRPF personnel was critically injured in the incident.
They said the injured was immediately taken to a hospital. “Security forces have been rushed and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” they said.
“Checkpoints have been established at many places. Motorcycles and vehicles are being thoroughly checked before allowing them to pass,” they added.
