Srinagar: United Jihad Council on Friday demanded an international probe into the killing of a senior journalist and Rising Kashmir editor-in-Chief Shujaat Bukhari who was killed on late Thursday evening outside his office at Srinagar’s press enclave.
In an e-mailed statement issued to KNS, UJC spokesman, Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted the outfit chief, Syed Salah-ud-din as condemning the killing of senior journalist, saying “Bukhari though his newspapers always highlighted the human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir at international level.”
“Bukhari’s killing has raised many questions as he was killed at a time when the UN human rights commission released a report on the HR violations in Kashmir,” he said.
He also demanded an impartial probe by an international agency, saying that “we believe belief that Indian agencies and their agents have killed Bukhari.” (KNS)
