Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police paid tribute to two Constables, who were killed by unidentified gunmen during an attack on senior journalist and Rising Kashmir Editor-in-Chief Shujaat Bukhari in the summer capital, Srinagar on Thursday.
46-year-old Bukhari and his two security officers — Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) Abdul Hamid and Constable Mumtaz Ahmad — were killed by unidentified gunmen outside the office of his newspapers at Press Enclave in the heart of the city on Thursday evening.
A police official on Friday said that wreath laying ceremony of the two slain policemen was held at District Police Line (DPL), Srinagar late on Thursday night.
“Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Central Kashmir Range (CKR) V K Birdi led police, civil officers and jawans in laying the floral wreaths on the bodies of the martyrs,” he said.
He said SgCt Hamid is a resident of Drigla Tanghdar in north Kashmir district of Kupwara. “Constable Ahmad is a resident of Khanpora Karnah in Kupwara,” he added.
