Bandipore: Minister for Public Works and Culture, Naeem Akhtar, Tuesday visited the noted Samoon family in Bandipora to express condolence on the demise of Dr Muneer A Samoon who passed away in Srinagar Monday and was laid to eternal rest Tuesday in Bandipora.
Expressing condolences over the sad demise of Dr Muneer, who worked in different capacities at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology, Akhtar said the deceased was a sincere and dedicated scientist who earned laurels for Bandipora by his pathbreaking contributions to the world of agriculture science.
The Public Works Minister said Dr Muneer’s death has created a void in the community of scientists which will be hard to fill. Akhtar prayed for peace to the departed soul and hoped that his family gets strength to deal with the loss.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Muneer is brother of Asghar Samoon, Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Masood Samoon, retired commissioner. They come from the famed Samoon family of Gurez in Bandipora district.
