Srinagar:) Life remained crippled in twin south Kashmir districts of Kulgam and Pulwama for the third day on Wednesday, where people were demanding bodies of two of the five militants killed near Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara on May 25.
However, the life was normal with business and other activities going on smoothly in Anantnag and Shopian district in the south Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the bodies of both the slain militants, identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Pulwama and Sheraz Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Yaripora Kulgam ,were exhumed at Tangdhar last night in presence of district administration and family members. The bodies are being handed over to their families after legal formalities, official sources said.
The authorities have already suspended train and mobile internet services in south Kashmir as a precautionary measure.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic off the roads in main Pulwama town and adjoining areas, where heavy clashes were witnessed between demonstrators and security forces on Tuesday. Work in government offices and banks was affected. Majority educational institutions also remained closed. However, situation was normal in Pampore with all shops and business establishments functioning normally.
Additional security forces and state police personnel have been deployed to foil any stone pelting incident on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, passing through Pulwama.
Life also was crippled in Kulgam district, where people are also demanding the body of slain militant Sheraz. Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads. Educational institutions remained closed and work in government offices and banks was badly affected.
Mudasir and Sheraz were among five militants killed when security forces foiled infiltration bid from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) at Eagle post in Tangdhar sector in the frontier district of Kupwara on May 25. They were later buried at Tangdhar as unidentified.
The family members of both the militants identified them when their photos appeared on social media.
