Goa: The vice president of School Games Federation of India (SGFI), Jahangir Mir of Jammu and Kashmir was awarded with the prestigious ‘Life Time Achievement’ award by SGFI on Sunday at Goa.
Jahangir, who has also served as former Director General of Department of Youth Services and Sports from 2015 to 2016 received this award after his continuous efforts in the field of school sports.
The award ceremony, which was followed by Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2018, of the federation was attended by representatives of almost all the states of the country. Moreover, Jahangir Mir as its executive member also attended the meeting.
On this occasion, President SGFI, Sunil Kumar lauded the contributions of Jahangir for his efforts of bringing the talent of youth to limelight.
While addressing the gathering, General Secretary SGFI, Dr. Mishra highlighted the work & performance of Jahangir in the field of sports that deserve recognition.
Presiding over the event, Jahangir expressed his gratitude to SGFI team for choosing him for this prestigious award.
Describing sports as a source of integration of the country, he said, “Sports should be a priority sector & deserves attention of government besides other allied agencies so as to involve young generation in sports.”
He stressed upon the concerned state representatives to motivate more youth to participate in sports activities.
Meanwhile, SGFI is a nation level institution to monitor and organize all national and international level games for about 134 numbers of disciplines in the country including 54 recognized disciplines in Jammu and Kashmir.
