Jammu: Director Agriculture Jammu, Hari Krishan Razdan interacted with the farmers and vegetable growers at Sunderbani area of Sub-Division Nowshera.
Mukesh Khajuria, District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Rajouri, R. C. Sharma, Apiculture Development Officer, , Suresh Khajuria, SDAO, Nowshera, Ravi Sharma, Agriculture Extension Officer, Sunderbani, Kuldeep Bassan, SCA, Vishav Sharma, Agriculture Extension Officer, Siot and other field functionaries including JAEOs and AEAs were present on the occasion.
During his visit Director interacted with the farmers regarding implementation of various farmers’ welfare schemes and programs. He directed the field staff to reach out to the farmers and make all out efforts to achieve objective of doubling of farmer’s income by 2022 through the implementation of schemes like Soil Health Card Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFSBY), Kisan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS) and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).
The Director also stressed on taking the local representatives into confidence while implementing various farmers’ welfare schemes.
Razdan also reviewed the stocking position and availability of fertilizers and various Kharif Seeds including Maize, Paddy, Pulses and Vegetables Seeds.
The Extension Functionaries highlighted the success of various vegetable growers and their growing enthusiasm for cultivation of tomato, brinjal and many other cucurbitaceous vegetables in the area.
The farmers on the occasion demanded promotion of Vegetable Growing Clusters through provision of Green House Structures, Shade Nets, Vermi-compost structures, Bower System, Sprinkler and Drip Irrigation Systems on subsidy in the area along with chaff-cutters, motorized Spray pumps and many other manually operated tools and machinery.
The farmers also apprised for installation of more Motorised pumpsets, Solar Pumpsets, deep Borewells to make the availability of assured irrigation water for the crops.
The vegetable growers also put forth demand for marketing, storage and refrigerated marketing van facilities for the vegetables .
