6th SAC meeting held at Shopian

Shopian: Director Extension Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST-K) Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Monday chaired the 6th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Shopian at Meeting Hall of District Administrative Complex Shopian here Monday.

The Director, while underlining the need to hold a need-based brainstorming and interactive sessions on problems identified with regard to low production in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and allied sectors, stressed upon scientific interventions so that maximum number of farmers are benefitted.

District Development Commissioner Shopian, Gazanfar Ali, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stressed upon better coordination among the line departments in disseminating latest technological know-how among farmers so as to give a boost to the productivity of crops in the district. He assured full cooperation and support from the district administration to the KVK for widening and expanding its working spectrum in the larger interest of the farming community in the district.

Earlier, Program Coordinator, KVK Shopian, Dr Parmeet Singh briefed the meeting through PowerPoint presentation about the activities undertaken by the KVK during the previous year and presented the projected action plan for the year 2018-2019. The Advisory Committee meeting stressed upon the need of close coordination among farmers, extension functionaries and KVK scientists to devise concrete strategies in line with the emerging challenges to overcome the constraints in agriculture production and productivity.

Director Fisheries, Assistant Floricultural Officer, officers from line departments, progressive farmers and farm women from different parts of the district were also present on the occasion.
