Jammu: The Indo-Pak international border on Monday witnessed calm with no fresh incident of cross border firing being reported for the past more than 12 hours.
“No incident of cross border firing was reported from anywhere along the Indo-Pak International Border a day after fresh mortar shelling in Pargwal and Kanachak sectors,” official sources said here.
While two BSF personnel were martyred, 12 civilians sustained injuries in cross border firing on Sunday.
The shelling incidents have once again forced the border population to leave their homes and take shelter in safer places at relief camps etc.
The last such incident occurred in Pargwal sector on Sunday evening which lasted for some time.
Since then, an uncertain lull is prevailing along the border with fear psychosis gripping the people.
The latest agreement after the DGMOs level contact between India and Pakistan of May 29, could not bring any respite to the border people as the accord did not stand even for a week and Pakistani forces violated the truce yesterday prompting Indian forces to retaliate effectively.
