Three grenades lobbed in a day in South Kashmir

Srinagar: Suspected militants lobbed a grenade at a joint party of the 140 BN CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Khanabal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, leaving four CRPF troopers, a policeman and a civilian wounded.
An official said the injured were rushed to district hospital Anantnag for treatment. The injured CRPF troopers were identified as Ravinder Singh of Uttarakhand, Mohammad Siraj, Veer Singh of Uttar Pradesh and Vinod Kumar.
The injured cop of Jammu and Kashmir Police was identified as Abdul Majeed of Larkipora, Anantnag and the injured civilian as Abdul Rashid of Tral.
A grenade was also lobbed on a CRPF 183 Battalion vehicle in Pulwama district. However, it missed the target and exploded on the road.
Another grenade was lobbed towards the residential house of MLA Tral in south Kashmi.
Reports said that the militants used a UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher) to fire the grenade at the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Mushtaq Shah’s house. Confirming the incident, MLA Tral said that there was no damage of property or life in the blast. A police official feigned ignorance about the incident.
