Srinagar: An army soldier was killed while a Major was injured after the duo slipped off a mountain and fell down into a deep gorge in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
Official sources told local news agency GNS that the duo who were part of a patrolling party suffered critical injuries after they slipped and fell down into the deep gorge from the mountain at Maidan Uri.
The injured, identified as Major Amit Kumar and Sepoy Raman Kumar of 62 RR, were taken to nearby Military hospital immediately where Sepoy succumbed to injuries.
The incident, sources said, took place when Army’s 62 RR had launched a search operation Friday in the afternoon following suspicious movement in Maidan Uri.
A police officer also confirmed the death of soldier and injuries to army Major.
