Srinagar/New Delhi: The government forces have been put on high alert amid fears of fresh militant strikes , a media report quoted officials as saying so.
The security grid is apprehending a spike in militant attacks in the state, particularly in the Valley, the officials said.
The forces have been asked to remain on a high alert and maintain vigil around sensitive security installations across the state in view of reports of fresh infiltration of militants in the Valley, they said.
Today morning, militants attacked a vehicle in which Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were travelling in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. There was no report of any casualties on either side.
The forces claimed to have recovered three bags believed to be stuffed with improvised explosive devices or IEDs.
When contacted Director General of Police S P Vaid said “an alert has been sounded across Kashmir in view of the reports received from districts about the possibility of some groups of militants planning to carry out fresh strikes in Kashmir on the eve of Jang-e-Badr and Fridays in Ramadhan.”
Saying that all precautionary measures have been taken to counter any offensive from the militants, Vaid said “different groups including those affiliated to Jesh-e-Mohammad are planning strikes in some parts of Kashmir valley to create violence and panic the people.
