Kupwara: Protests were held in Tanghdar village of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday with protestors demanding construction of tunnel at high altitude Sadhna top. The spot is prone to avalanches.
In the first month of this year, 10 people were killed when an avalanche swept away a cab they were travelling in.
The protestors, young and old demanded construction of a tunnel at Sadhna top. They said that a small tunnel can save thousands of lives.
“The only alternative to avoid frequent accidents on the deadly road would be the construction of a tunnel,” said a protester.
Moreover, in wake of snowfall during winters, the road through Sadhna top remains suspended adding to the woes of people. They said that a tunnel will become the life line for the people and it will mitigate all their sufferings.
