Srinagar: In response to JRL’s statement on offer of dialogue from the Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the BJP on Wednesday told Joint Resistance Leadership to show clarity for getting a clarity from the Government of India and stop unrest for the purposes of a dialogue. The BJP also categorically refuted the statements attributed to Shri Amit Shah on support to Ousted BJP Minister Chowdhary Lal Singh over CBI inquiry.
Talking to Kashmir News Service , BJP state secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul said “If Hurriyat leaders go with an open mind for a dialogue the Government of India will also talk with an open mind but if they have something different in the bag then fate of the talks can be also different.”
In reply to a question that keeping in view the failures of dozens of rounds of talks in past several years over Kashmir issue, Koul said “Narendra Modi was not in command in previous years when talks didn’t bear fruit but this time Narendra Modi is in command and believe me talks can be successful.” Claiming credit for unilateral ceasefire, Koul said “usually ceasefire is announced in situations of war but announcing a unilateral ceasefire in a situation prevalent in Kashmir is a big measure. Unfortunately the ceasefire announcement was not responded positively by the Hurriyat but fortunately the people have welcomed the initiative. Some people have not welcomed it but we can’t say anything about those who have not responded to it positively.
In reply to a question on a formal invitation of talks to Joint Resistance Leadership, Koul said “special representative of the central government Dineshwar Sharma on dialogue in Kashmir is already mandated to give a formal invitation to Joint Resistance Leadership for talks.”
When asked to comment on the remarks of BJP National president Amit Shah over support to Chowdhary Lal Singh the ousted minister on his campaign for demand of CBI inquiry into the Kathua rape and murder case, Koul said “How you quote me and how I quote you, does not matter but what matters is the statement. A statement has not come from Amit Shah.”
