IGNOU set up 23 examination centres for June 2018 Term Examination in J&K

Srinagar:The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Srinagar has established 23 Examination Centres for the June Term End Examination (TEE) 2018, including one Jail Center in Srinagar Central Jail for jail inmates.
More than 22,000 IGNOU learners have applied for the examination. This was stated in an interaction with the media organised at Srinagar today.
Examination Centres have been established in various remote localities including Leh, Kargil , Sopore, Sopian, Budgam, Tral, Anantnag, Baramulla, Pattan, Handwara, Kulgam, Karnah, Srinagar, Kupwara, Nawa Kadal, Tangmarg, Bandipura, Pulwama and Ganderbal.
At the national level, IGNOU has established 926 examination centers including 18 overseas centers and 99 centers in jails across the country. Hall tickets have been issued to 6, 78,239 eligible students who had applied for appearing in June term end examination 2018. The hall tickets are also available on IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in .
IGNOU Regional Director Srinagar Dr Mokbul Ali Laskar said that students are advised to be in possession of the valid Identity Card issued by the University at the time of admission during the examination. IGNOU RC Srinagar deputed more than 120 Observer for monitoring purpose of this examination. Additionally, monitoring team has been deputed by IGNOU headquarter, New Delhi for overall monitoring of Exam across the State.
Assistant Regional Director and Media In charge Kamlesh Meena said that for July 2018 session IGNOU launched some very important and skilled based Certificate and Diploma programs –Certificate in First Aid (CFAID), Certificate in Tribal Studies (CTRBS) and Diploma in Event Management (DEVMT). The main objectives of these programs are to develop knowledge and skills about fist aid, to enable the learners to recognize the symptoms /condition which require firs aid, to develop the ability of dealing with emergency situations. RC Srinagar will be sending proposals to HQ for activation of these newly launched in J & K.
The Diploma in Event Management aims to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and skills in one of the most exciting and rapidly growing industry, the event industry; Event Management is a multimillion dollar industry and is also called the “business industry”. An event is about people coming together to create, operate and participate in an experience. Every industry be it a business group, charity group or a society ,hold events of some size or type in order to market themselves, build business relationship, raise money or celebrate.

IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar is one of the largest Regional Centres of the country in terms of enrolment. Since its establishment in 1999 it has been catering to the higher education needs for the largest section of the aspiring learners in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, more particularly the aspiring rural and female learners.
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Srinagar has begun the online admission process for various distance programmes which are on offer for July 2018 session. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Srinagar is geared up for providing all support services for the online admission process for various distance programmes offered in its July 2018 session. Programs at the level of Bachelors, Masters, PG Diploma & Diploma and Certificate are on offer for the July session and admission form can be filled online at IGNOU website-www.ignou.ac.in. For further details relating to the University, various programmes, University Rules, etc prospective students may refer Common Prospectus which is available in the university website.
Dr Laskar said that IGNOU RC is going to expand further by way of establishing more Learner Support Centres across the nook and corner of the State of J & K.
IGNOU provide free higher education opportunity through all academic programmes at Certificate level, Diploma level Bachelor Preparatory Programmmes (BPP), Bachelor Degree Programmes (BDP), B.Sc. Nursing , B Ed., M.Phil and Ph.D programmes  to SC, ST, Jail inmates and Handloom Weaver and Weaver Communities. Admission trends over the years for different programs offers by IGNOU reveals that growing numbers of students are enrolling particularly in Master of Arts in  Sociology (MSO), Master of Arts in English (MEG), Master of Arts in History (MAH) , Master of Arts in Psychology ( MAPC) and Bachelor Degree Programs (BDP). Further majority of the students enrolling are girls.
Kamlesh Meena said about BPP programme and its importance and the opportunity it provides to those who have been dropped out from their middle/secondary or senior secondary school due to so many unavoidable reasons but now they want to pursue their remaining higher education. BPP is a bridge program for them to complete their education. This Programme is offered by the IGNOU University to those students who wish to do Bachelors Degree of IGNOU but do not have the essential qualification of having passed 10+2. In absence of such a qualifying certificate these students are deprived of higher education. To enable such students to enter higher education stream, IGNOU has designed this Preparatory Programme. This is an enabling programme of the university but it is not equivalent to 10+2.
The application process for admission, as has been the norm in last couple of years, is online. Students willing to apply to IGNOU can log on to the website and register for the desired course. The application process will be over on June 30, 2018 for Certificate, Diploma and PG Diplomas and last date for Masters and Bachelors program of IGNOU will be over on 15th July 2018 so students have ample time to go through the regulations and register for their desired course. It has further been informed that the last date for Re-registration of students already enrolled with IGNOU in Bachelors and Masters Programs has been extended till 15th June, 2018. Students can check the programmes available for this session on the online portal. They can also check the eligibility requirement for each course.
Students are strongly advised to go through the eligibility requirements before they begin the application courses. There are some PG Diploma courses which require a student to have some prior work experience in a particular domain.
