2006 J&K sex scandal: Ex DIG BSF Padhi among 5 held guilty by CBI’s Chandigarh Court

Chandigarah: A special court of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday held five persons guilty including Ex DIG BSF K C Paddington and Dy SP Mohammad Ashraf Mir of Jammu & Kashmir Police in the infamous Jammu & Kashmir ‘Sex Scandal’ case but two accused have been acquitted,said a media report in Delhi on Wednesday
Delhi based National Dailly and ‘Indian Express’ said that those held guilty by the court are Shabbir Ahmad Laway (Shabir Kala), Shabbir Ahmad Langoo, Masoor Ahmad (Maqsood), DSP Mohammad Ashraf Mir and DIG BSF KC Padhi.
Businessman Mehrajuddin Malik and then Advocate General Anil Sethi were acquitted by the court, they said.
The court would pronounce the quantum of sentence next week.
The case, according to Times of India, had nine accused and four survivors.
The 2006 scandal had hit headlines after the J&K police discovered two video CDs showing Kashmiri minors being sexually exploited.
After questioning the minors, the police gathered names of 56 people allegedly involved in the scandal, the report said.
The case was transferred to the CBI in May 2006 after names of two J&K ministers, MLAs and other influential men emerged in the case.
