Mir Zahoor conducts extensive tour of Batamaloo constituency

Srinagar: Minister of State for PHE, I&FC, Forests, Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Mir Zahoor Ahmad, Saturday, conducted an extensive tour of Batamaloo Constituency to take stock of working of irrigation and drinking water facilities.

MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Chief Engineer, I&FC M M Shahnawaz, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and a team of senior officers of PHE and I&FC departments accompanied the Minister.

The Minister inspected the progress of construction work on Dewatering Pump Station at Malroo. He was apprised that this much-needed Pump Station has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.66 crore and will be commissioned soon. After commissioning the Pump Station, a vast populated area will be saved from water logging due to rains.

While inspecting Lift Irrigation Pump at Takanwari the Minister was apprised that the Pump is not sufficient for catering to the requirements of the local population. In this regard, the Minister directed the Irrigation Department to set up an additional Pump Station at a nearby place and ensure that the farmers may not face problems for irrigating their land and vegetable fields.

At Takanwari, the Minister said the problems with local Water Supply Scheme will be resolved soon and in this regard, Rs 8 lakh has been released and another Rs 8 lakh were released by MLA Batamaloo out of his CDF.

MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh announced to provide Rs 10.00 lakhs for setting up of the additional Pump Station at Bakshi Pora, out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The Minister instructed the authorities to start work immediately.

While interacting with the people, the locals of the area projected their demands and sought their early redressal. The Minister assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed on priority.

MLA Noor Mohammad Sheikh also interacted with the people and highlighted the activities of the present government. He appealed the people to come forward and take advantage of the welfare schemes launched by the state and central government.
