Poonch: The Regional Transport Authority Poonch Friday approved 137 route permits for mini buses, autorikshaws and four wheeler.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad and attended by ADDC, Abdul Hamid, Addl.SP Anwar ul Haq, ARTO Abdul Raheem and representatives of Traffic Police.
ARTO briefed the meeting about the problems being faced by the local people in remote areas of Tehsil Mandi, Mahrote, Behramgala, Plera, Loran, Sawjian, Arai, Bela and other off routes to various far off located villages in the district. He also informed about the available strength of vehicles besides highlighting the additional requirement of vehicles for facilitating the locals.
The meeting, after thorough examination, approved 137 cases for route permits for passenger vehicles of various specifications. The approved cases included 84 of 170 for four wheeler autos, 9 of 25 for three wheelers and 19 for mini buses.
The DDC emphasised that the mini buses and autos should ply on the approved route permits. He also stressed upon transport and traffic authorities to keep close check on overloading, overcharging and irregular vehicular movement on the new road stretches.
