Srinagar: Welcoming the statement of National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah that mainstream and resistance movement leaders should speak in one voice on current crisis, senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz hoped that he will stick to this position in future.
In a statement here Thursday afternoon the former Union minister Prof Soz said “I have a feeling in my mind that I should plead with Dr Farooq Abdullah that while he makes his statement in public interest, he should stick to the position he has taken.
Any dilution of such a statement at some point of time in future can harm the earlier effect of a particular statement, he said.
“I welcome Dr Farooq Abdullah’s statement to the effect that the time has come when the Mainstream and the Joint Resistance Movement leaders should speak in one voice on the current political crisis in Kashmir”, Prof soz said.
In my opinion, this statement of Dr Abdullah should be a welcome situation to all sections of society in Kashmir, who have been watching endlessly the killings of youngsters, one way or the other, the Congress leader said.
“I feel confident that Dr Abdullah will remain committed and consistent with this approach and it will certainly lead to a way forward as for the present crisis in Kashmir is concerned”, he said.
