Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Police Monday registered a formal FIR against the brother of BJP leader Chowdary Lal Singh for using offensive and abusive language against Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah earlier requested Jammu Kashmir Police to lodge an FIR against an individual who could be seen abusing Mehbooba Mufti in a purported video that has gone viral.
An individual whom netizens have identified as the business partner and brother of Chowdhary Lal Singh could be seen in a purported video raising abusive slogans against Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti while his supporters are cheering at him for the language he is using. The language used by the individual is offensive and abusive.
In response to the video, National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah not only condemned the incident but also requested Jammu Kashmir Police to register a case against the individual. “This is absolutely unacceptable language used against @MehboobaMufti & is unequivocally condemned with the request that @JmuKmrPolice file a FIR against this abusive individual,” Omar tweeted.
Police Chief SP Vaid said that after taking cognizance of the incident, they have booked the individual. “Nobody is above law,” he said.
