Step symbolizes Govt’s commitment for dev of Ladakh region: Jasrotia

Kargil: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Rajiv Jasrotia, Saturday said the flagging-off work on the Zojial tunnel symbolizes the firm commitment of the Government towards the overall development of the Ladakh region.
The Minister said this while addressing a public meeting at Hussaini Park here, which was held in connection with the foundation of Zojila Tunnel by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Leh. Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Minister of State for Finance Ajay Nanda and MLC Vikram Randhawa were also present on the occasion.
Jasrotia, while congratulating the people on the foundation of 14 kilometre-long tunnel project, said the Government is fully conscious of the developmental needs and aspirations of the people of Kargil and issues like the expansion of Kargil Airport and other major projects shall be executed in a phased manner.
CEC Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali and the state government for fulfilling the long pending demand of the people of the region by inaugurating the prestigious Zojila tunnel project.
Minister of State for Finance and planning Ajay Nanda, while reiterating the commitment of the Government to deliver corruption-free governance to the people, said all out efforts are underway to ensure that the benefits of development reach equitably to the people of all the regions of the State.
MLC Vikram Randhawa also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the live telecast of the foundation laying ceremony of Zojila Tunnel by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also screened on the occasion which was witnessed by a large number of people.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil Vikas Kundal, SSP Kargil Tsering Gyalpo, ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho, district officers besides a large number of people including students from different educational institutions were present on the occasion.
