Poonch: The Assistant Labour Commissioner, Labour Department Poonch Zamood Ahmad Saturday stressed upon the labourers to register themselves with Buildings and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCWWB) to avail benefits entailed under various schemes of the department for them.
He was speaking at a largely attended camp organised at Dharana, an LOC Village of Subdivision Mendhar, to create awareness about various labour laws.
The camp was organised in the backdrop of commitment made by the District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad during public outreach program at Dharana.
During the camp, information was disseminated about labour laws including Factories Act, Minimum Wage Act, Equal Renumeration Act, Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act, Trade Union Act, Industrial Employment Act, Employees Compensation Act, Contract Labour Regulation and Abolition Act and Maternity Benefit Act.
The participants were called upon to register their grievances with labour department for timely resolution. They were also exhorted upon to enroll their wards in schools as children have fundamental right to education.
