Srinagar/May, 18: Militants Friday attacked a patrol party of army in the Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipore district after which army retaliated triggering an exchange of the fire.
Reports said soon after the exchange of the fire searches were though launched in the area but no contact was established with the suspected militants.
The exchange of fire comes on the second day of unilateral ceasefire announced by the Home Ministry in the holy month of Ramadhan.
While the forces have been asked not to launch anti-militancy operations, they have been given the right to retaliate in case of an attack.
Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba has rejected the ceasefire announcement by calling it a “drama”.
