Baramulla: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Monday organized a day-long skill development program on rural employment opportunities for the youth in Baramulla district.
The program included awareness about courses on cutting, tailoring and data operation sponsored by NABARD with support from Initiative for Peace and Development NGO and in collaboration with 161 INFBN (Indian Army) at Gantamulla in Baramulla. DGM NABARD, Lead District Manager Baramulla and General Manager J&K Grameen Bank were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DDM NABARD stressed the need for multi-skilling in individuals in the present age, adding that skills in just one area may not be enough to get regular employment in rural areas.
The training under the skill development project sponsored by NABARD is aimed at enhancing employability in skilled youth. It is offered for two months during which trainees are provided with required training skills aimed at equipping them with required skills thus helping them become employable.
